About the opportunity

Professor Yun-Hee Jeon, Susan, and Isaac Wakil Professor of Healthy Ageing is a registered nurse, academic, and leading researcher in psychogeriatrics and gerontology. Her research focuses on developing innovative and creative approaches to improving the health and well-being of older people.

She is recognised for her significant contributions to building the evidence for person-centered care, a philosophy that she says underpins all of her research. "We focus on understanding and addressing the need of an individual and their capacities and capabilities as well as their impairment. Our research investigates care interventions to help older people maintain an optimum level of autonomy and independence despite their clinical condition".

Professor Yun-Hee Jeon is seeking to appoint a Research Administrator/ officer to join her team located in the RC Mills Building and the Susan Wakil Health Building sitting within the School of Nursing and Midwifery on the Camperdown campus.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Act as one of the points of contact between Professor Yun- Hee Jeon and both internal and external stakeholders
  • assist with the management of the day-to-day operations of the office including telephone, calendar, travel and e-mail
  • perform administrative support tasks such as developing agendas, proofreading, formatting of papers & reports, taking minutes of meetings, maintaining meeting records, and following up on action items
  • research support, data management, and reporting - research data collection, storage, maintain asset register and inventory as well as learn and perform/assist in common research methods under supervision or following work instructions
  • project coordination - prepares and distributes project reports, and meeting minutes/actions
  • supporting grant applications administration
  • coordinate research workshops and forums
  • other research and office administrative support.

About you

  • Experience in a research-intensive environment or interest in working in academia
  • outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters
  • experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions, and grant applications
  • proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint and data capture systems
  • exceptional attention to detail
  • tertiary qualifications - In a relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
