As Queen’s enters an exciting and bold chapter of its storied existence, it is in search of its next Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) – a key member and colleague of the university senior team who plays a pivotal leadership role in shaping and elevating Queen’s today and in the future.

Reporting to the Principal and Vice-Chancellor, the Provost & VPA is the chief academic, operating, and budget officer for the university. In this capacity, the Provost provides strategic leadership in each of these key areas, supports the vision of the Principal and Vice-Chancellor, and works in close collaboration with the Vice-Principals. As the university’s academic lead, the Provost supports the work of six Faculty Deans, the Deputy Provost, and several Vice-Provosts and Associate Vice-Principals who are committed to advancing teaching, learning, and research excellence and output across campus. Collaboratively and collegially, the Provost oversees the internal operations and activities of the university to ensure that all aspects of administration support the mission, vision, and Strategy. The Provost balances operational and academic leadership to deliver on six strategic priorities which will position Queen’s for future success in academic and research excellence.

As the ideal candidate, you are a respected academic leader, having served as a Department Head, Dean, or Provost in the past, with a strong record of academic and scholarly achievement. You hold a PhD, or equivalent terminal degree, and are appointable at the rank of full professor. A dynamic inclusive leader committed to social justice, you are an emotionally intelligent, empathetic, and compassionate leader of people who builds consensus, readily able to identify when to stand tall and speak up, and when to step back and listen. You have earned and continue to nurture the respect of students, administrative staff, members of the Board and Senate, and the Decanal team.
