The Role

Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued.  

We are actively recruiting a new, research-active, Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Finance.  

The ability to teach and effectively communicate to Finance students with no prior experience of Finance (such as undergraduates from multiple disciplines), intermediate experience (such as our single honours Finance students students and MSc  programmes in Finance) and advanced knowledge (PhD students), is a key requirement for this position. The Arts programme, where students are taking Finance as either a subject choice or as as one module amongst many is a key part of our student community, thus ability to engage such students in the joy, practicality and science of Finance are important.  

Teaching in Finance covers a range of modules, which can be seen on our website under each of our programmes (https://www.maynoothuniversity.ie/school-business/our-courses). Teaching needs currently include undergraduate and postgraduate modules. These include individual modules in single honours Finance degrees, Finance as a subject on the Arts programme, Finance within non-specialist degrees, and a range of taught postgraduate Finance degrees, and our PhD programme.  

The successful applicant(s) will have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. The appointee(s) will be expected to build a strong research profile that supports the School of Business and University’s research strategy including affiliating to the Research Institutes, where appropriate and working with colleagues on national and international research. The appointee will be expected to sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance and generate publications of international standard.  

Salary

Assistant Professor / Lecturer (Post 1995*): €55,951 – €88,601 per annum (7 points)
Assistant Lecturer (2021):  €35,598 – €62,211 per annum (14 points)  

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
