The Sir James Matthews Building in Guildhall Square Southampton has recently been purchased by the University of Southampton. The continued use of the building for education will ensure it continues to benefit learners, local businesses and the city. 

The role

The Building Manager will support the delivery of teaching and learning and a high-quality student experience within this newly acquired building, through the coordination and supervision of effective and efficient operational services (student and staff support, maintenance, cleaning, health and safety, security, resource management, building inductions and staff training).

About you

You will bring experience of working with various stakeholders in a managerial capacity ideally in a Facilities renvironment. You will have a strong knowledge of Health and Safety management ideally with IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or equivalent). You will be able to accurately analyse and interpret complex quantitative and qualitative data, presenting summary information in a clear and concise format. You will demonstrate the ability to organise your own work and that of the team and contractors along with the ability to motivate service staff as part of the wider Estates and Facilities team.
