The CORNERSTONE team at the University of Southampton has a shared vision: to bring the future closer by turning research ideas into reality. We are seeking an Enterprise Development Manager who is passionate about supporting cutting-edge research in a growing team of enthusiastic colleagues. You will join a group that has a culture centred around the team and is very supportive of one-another. You will be self-motivated, a strong communicator, flexible, able to work both independently and as part of a team, able to manage time efficiently and able to work with a wide variety of external partners.

You will have the opportunity to thrive in a university environment, working at the cutting edge of future technologies. You will be able to develop your career within a university culture focused on people, collegiality, quality, internationalisation, and sustainability. Your working hours will be flexible, with the option for hybrid working.

The CORNERSTONE team provide a Silicon Photonics fabrication service to researchers from across the globe, centred around unique cleanroom capabilities in Southampton, UK (www.cornerstone.sotonfab.co.uk). You will play a fundamental role in the success CORNERSTONE by developing new business and ensuring that opportunities to support the development of UK science are not missed.

The primary goal of your role is to generate impact for both CORNERSTONE and the research we support. You will achieve this by acting as a technical expert on the CORNERSTONE fabrication technologies, working closely with our partners including EUROPRACTICE, Luceda Photonics and Tyndall National Institute to promote the CORNERSTONE capabilities to prospective collaborators. You will be given a budget to host match-making events where technology applications experts will be brought together with Silicon Photonics experts to seek opportunities to work together towards a shared vision. You will ensure Equality, Diversity & inclusion is a key consideration for all CORNERSTONE outreach, training, and marketing activities. You will host training events and seminars, as well as attend conferences and exhibitions. You will be responsible for our online presence via our website and social media accounts, supported by our Administrator.

Furthermore, you will be able to learn from some of the best researchers in the field of Silicon Photonics and will gain valuable, transferable skills, whilst gaining a deeper understanding of the Silicon Photonics ecosystem and growing your personal network.

To be successful you will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in photonics;  demonstrable technnical knowledge of integrated photonics;  experience in a business development role and knowledge of the integrated photonics global landscape.  An understanding of service provision contracts, marketing and branding is desirable.

We are an equal opportunities employer and encourage applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
