The Centre for Communication Skills (CCS) offers quality courses and services that develop the communication knowledge and skills of SIT students so that they are not only competent in fulfilling their academic requirements, but also when communicating in their professions.

As a senior tutor, you will be part of a team of experts who are passionate about developing materials for and be part of the team that teaches critical thinking and communication (reading, writing & speaking) across programmes in different disciplines, in the higher education sector. In addition, you will be responsible for developing and delivering assignment-specific writing and speaking instruction embedded within content modules to reiterate critical thinking and communication in students’ programmes and you may also be involved in applied research work with the industry.

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and experience:

  • A Master’s degree from a reputable university in Applied Linguistics, Science Communication or any other field but with the knowledge and keenness to teach academic and technical writing & speaking in higher education
  • At least three years of experience in teaching writing in higher education or training in communication skills in a discipline-specific and/or professional context
  • Considerable knowledge and expertise in critical thinking, course design and evaluation, coordination and assessment
  • A keen interest in educating and nurturing young adults for the professions
  • Relevant industry experience (preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
