Job Description

The United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a new faculty position of Assistant Professor in Data Science. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in mathematics in relevant fields, such as optimization and the mathematical foundations of data science. Preference will be given to a candidate who has in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas including but not limited to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and/or natural language process. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence at undergraduate and graduate levels. They should have demonstrable research capabilities to develop and sustain an internally, and/or externally funded research program in Mathematics related to Data Science, and publish their research findings in top-tier referred journals. Candidates should also be willing to actively engage in promoting the growth of the UAE University. The Department views this position as a key step towards building UAE University into one of the top universities in the UAE for data science in undergraduate and graduate training, and in the interdisciplinary and applied research that will attract industrial partners. The application package should include a cover letter, a detailed resume, a brief description of teaching philosophy, a list of courses taught, and three recommendation letters including one at least for research and one for teaching. Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Mathematics. The ability to teach undergraduate courses related to Data Science is a must. Industrial and professional experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualification

Postdoctoral experience or teaching and research higher education institutions. Strong communication skills in English.
