The Opportunity


This is a great opportunity to join the University at an exciting time as we look to build our academic reputation and standing as a University, embed our new strategy and take forward our talent agenda.


You will play a key role in shaping, leading, implementing, and embedding our L&D strategies and initiatives to help us develop and retain high-performing employees, using skills enhancement as a key tool and way of driving successful delivery of key University projects and priorities.


Specifically, you will lead the development of a talent and leadership strategy which enables us to develop and retain homegrown talent and ensures that we have a talent pipeline to fulfil our future skills needs as the University continues to grow.


You will proactively engage with our stakeholders taking a consultancy approach to understand their business needs and providing innovative learning and development solutions to support their needs. Alongside this strategic focus you will also take a hands-on approach and be involved in workshop and course delivery for all employees.


Who we’re looking for?

  • A subject matter expert with an established track record of success and evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Highly customer focused individual, able to build and maintain relationships quickly across a broad range of roles and evidence of working and influencing at a senior level.
  • Excellent facilitation and consultancy skills and appropriately networked to bring external thinking and new ideas forward to ensure our service delivery remains current, innovative and helps build a learning culture that supports University plans.
  • Significant experience of leading talent and leadership development initiatives.
  • Experience of effectively managing a range of competing priorities and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivation and the drive and perseverance to work on own initiative.
  • Experience of leading projects applying project plan methodology.
  • Experience of using data, metrics, and other information to develop insight to identify opportunities for improvement and deliver change.

Benefits We Offer


Salary: £42,155 - £51,805 per annum (Grade 6)


Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week
