About the opportunity

The Professor, Social Work, will be a leading academic of international standing within the discipline, with an exemplary record of accomplishments across the domains of teaching, learning and curriculum development; research and scholarship; community engagement and professional activities.

The appointee will foster and develop the capacity of others within the College and Academic Group, undertaking a leadership role in one or more of the above domains.

The appointee will teach into undergraduate and postgraduate Social Work programs in the Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) and Master of Social Work (Professional Qualifying).

The appointee will be an internationally recognised scholar with significant research track record including projects and grant income, and publications above world standing level. The appointee will collaboratively lead research teams and projects and supervise Higher Degree Research candidates in this field.

Focus areas of research would ideally include one or more of: regional, rural, and remote communities; social justice and the politics of disadvantage; social work policy; migrant studies; mental health studies; Indigenous issues in social work; and/or interdisciplinary studies with academics from the Social Sciences, Humanities and Health Services, in the region, the tropics and beyond.

The appointee will bring connections and networks in the field and liaise with relevant stakeholders and organisations, and broadly support the University’s Strategic Intent.
