Job Purpose

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, the Program Director of CME at Khalifa University’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) manages the day-to-day operations of the Department of CME and the development and management of CME activities by the CMHS

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic Responsibilities

This role is expected to:

  • Contribute to the formulation of the CMHS’s strategy, with a focus on meeting KU and CMH`s strategic goals in the areas of undergraduate medical education
  • Contribute to development of the CMHS’s policies and procedures, adhering to the overall objectives of Khalifa University, ensuring alignment to applicable regulations and standards and promoting of leading practices and educational excellence
  • Contribute to the development of the office budget
  • Manage and mentor staff within the office

Operational Responsibilities

  • Works with the leadership of the CMHS and stakeholders to identify topics based on needs assessment
  • Develop and maintain accreditation with the appropriate bodies
  • Secure financial and administrative support required to conduct all live CME activities (e.g. physical facilities, AV equipment, personnel)
  • Ensuring that programs have appropriate CME accreditation
  • Works with the appropriate faculty in developing content of program
  •  Developing and managing distribution of publicity for CME activities
  • Assists in liaison with other stakeholders and the university community in regard to CME matters
  • Provides information or prepares reports as and when needed.

General

  • Ensures adherence to the University's information security policies and procedures, and reports breaches or other security risks accordingly.
  • Ensures coordination with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.
  • Performs any other tasks assigned by the Associate Den and his line managers.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct line supervisor for the Coordinator of CME
  • Provides direct reports with mentoring, coaching and training to improve communication, problem solving and tactical skills
  • Approves requests for time off and competes other management duties within timeframes

  • MD or equivalent degree (MB., ChB etc.)

Experience

  • Familiarity or experience with CME
  • Ability to relate to health care professionals and work under time constraints.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as client relations and data management programs
  • Ability to work on some weekends when conferences are held
  • Ability to travel outside of Abu Dhabi to UAE or regional conferences
