Manchester Metropolitan University

Director of Marketing

Manchester Metropolitan University is an ambitious university and an inspiring place to work. One of the largest universities in the UK, located at the heart of a vibrant and exciting city, we trace our roots back to the early part of the nineteenth century, when institutions were established to deliver skills and education for local people, improving livelihoods and the economy. Today, we remain at the heart of this great global city, continuing to play our part in its community and economy by empowering and enriching our students, colleagues and our wider community.

The role of Director of Marketing provides an exciting opportunity for a creative, ambitious and accomplished leader to have significant impact on our ambitious strategic aims.

Reporting to the Director of External Relations, and working closely with senior colleagues, the Director of Marketing will be responsible for the development and implementation of the University’s marketing strategy, advancing our reputation, regionally, nationally, and worldwide. The Director will lead a high-performing, cross disciplinary team of around 80 professionals working across market research, web and digital, brand, campaigns and corporate events, student recruitment marketing and creative services.

Our new Director will lead the team to support the achievement of ambitious targets to diversify our student population and further build our international, and national, reputation. They will also lead on high-profile initiatives and events, including exciting new projects for our bicentennial celebrations in 2024.

The Director of Marketing will be a highly experienced strategic marketing professional with a proven ability to lead high-performing teams to deliver maximum business impact. With substantial experience working in a dispersed and complex organisational structure where authority is derived through influence and persuasion, you will possess the requisite communication and interpersonal skills to build social capital quickly across our academic and professional services communities. You will have a proven capability to lead and manage change while nurturing teams with a focus on continuous improvement.

This is an unparalleled opportunity for the right individual to play a critical role in the advancement of the University, building our profile and reputation to help deliver our vision and ambitious agenda over the next decade.
