Applications are invited for a Temporary post of a UCD Research Fellow within UCD School of Computer Science

UCD is a European leader in Data Analytics and Connected Health. Nationally we host flagship collaborative programmes under Science Foundation Ireland's Research Centres programmes and Enterprise Ireland/IDA's Technology Centre programme. We work with industry partners to develop projects within these programmes and under separate funding streams from the European Commission, Enterprise Ireland, the Irish Research Council, the Health Research Board and others.

We are looking to recruit a number of Post-Doctoral Research Fellows to start in October 2022 on research projects, funded by Industrial Partners and the European Commission. The projects are in the general area of Machine Learning, Data Analytics and Recommender Systems. This is a fixed term position until the end of September 2024 with potential to be renewed for another year. The projects may require close collaboration with industry partners.

Purpose

The objective of this role is to deliver a specific research project. The role allows the Research Fellow the professional development opportunity to demonstrate the capacity for independent and self-directed research and scholarship and the management of a research team. The role allows the Fellow to assemble a portfolio of independent achievement and render themselves competitive for tenured academic positions or senior scientific roles in industry.

The primary purpose of this role is also to lead the research activities of the group on the design and development of models and tools for machine-learning based data processing, data analytics and recommender systems in various domains, such as energy, environment, health and fitness. As a Research Fellow in UCD, it's expected that the successful candidate will direct the research group into successfully completing the research projects, guiding the group members into developing new or advanced research artefacts associated with various research projects and publish in top level peer-reviewed academic venues.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a team of world-class experts in Data Analytics, Machine Learning and Recommender Systems in ambitious research and development projects. The candidate will contribute to the success of the projects and to the improvement of the team's skills and expertise. The role allows the Research Fellow the professional development opportunity to demonstrate the capacity for independent and self-directed research and scholarship and the management of a research team. Salary range: €56,933 - €62,037 per annum

Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
