About the team

Human Resources enables the University to implement and deliver its People & Culture strategy to make the University a remarkable place to work, attracting and retaining word-class staff from diverse backgrounds who want to build careers, drive change, provide leadership an create opportunities at an institution renowned for its excellence.

The HR Business Partnering team consists of eight highly skilled HR practitioners who support an overall workforce of 3,700 FTE. The team have worked hard in building credibility as strategic and valued resources to the senior leadership team, and have a result, we have a seat at the table.

About the opportunity

UWA is undertaking a program of work to support UWA 2030 and the 2025 Strategic Plan. This includes investing in business transformation to further improve administrative and support services to meet the needs of the University’s staff and students while ensuring financial sustainability. The HR Business Partnering team will be front and centre of this transformation, delivering organisational design and change management initiatives.

As a senior member of the HRBP team, you will manage a diverse portfolio of ~850 FTE, providing expert human resource advice to leaders and staff on operational human resource matters and support the HR Business Partner with strategic initiatives. You will work closely with senior leaders to provide key operational and strategic human resources support. This will involve developing and implementing people strategies that are creative and meet the needs of the University and drives business performance.

In addition, you will work collaboratively with your HR colleagues in Centres of Excellence including Talent, Organisational Development, Employee Relations and Health & Wellbeing to share knowledge of best practice and influence the design and delivery of specialist advisory services.

About you

You will possess relevant tertiary qualifications and substantive senior HR experience working at senior levels of large, complex organisations. This will be underpinned with proven HR generalist knowledge and experience across leadership development, people capability and succession planning, performance improvement and management, talent resourcing and workforce planning, employee relations, and culture and engagement.

You will also have highly developed organisational design and change management skills gained from significant experience managing complex transformational changes within large matrix organisations. In addition, you will have the ability to work effectively at all levels of an organisation, with excellent influencing, relationship building, coaching and communication skills.
