Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for an Assistant Professor for the Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine with an affiliation to the Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  1. participate in the Healthy Longetivity Translational Research Programme to foster and work within a highly collaborative interdisciplinary environment. 
  2. Establish an independent research agenda through acquiring and sustaining robust extramural funding.
  3. teach life sciences undergraduates and/or postgraduate students and train and mentor students and postdoctoral trainees
  4. Function as an active member of the departmental and university faculty and foster a collegial and inclusive environment. .

Job Requirements 

  1. Candidates with a Ph.D or an equivalent doctoral degree and a strong interest in biology, chemistry or related field require.
  2. At least 3 years postdoctoral research experience
  3. Expertise in the biology of ageing, including the mechanisms driving ageing, their relationship to age-related diseases and translational approaches to extend healthspan.
  4. Track record of publishing in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals
  5. Experienced in leading independent research studies or a component within larger research programmes
  6. Ability to generate and maintain an independent stream of research funding
  7. Ability to teach life science courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels
  8. Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and
  9. Ability to work with culturally diverse populations. .
