Job Description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is looking to recruit a Research Associate to work on a research project on automated checking of compliance in structural BIM submissions. This project aims to develop a solution that automatically checks the compliance of structural BIM submissions against existing Singapore design codes. The candidate is expected to work on designing the overall system, liaising with vendors, and developing advanced predictive techniques to support the system.


  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, or related field from a reputable university
  • Post-graduate qualifications in computing or information systems
  • At least three years of experience in a structural or geotechnical engineering role
  • Past experience in development of enterprise systems
  • Certification in BIM
  • Knowledge of Etabs, SAFE, Prokon, Staad Pro
  • Knowledge of IFC
  • Knowledge of MySQL or MongoDB
  • Knowledge of programming (Python preferred)
  • A strong publication record
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
