The Australian National University is seeking to appoint an outstanding leader as the next Vice-President, Advancement.

The Australian National University (ANU) is in a unique position as the trail-blazers in University Philanthropy in Australia. Over the past seventy-six years, ANU has delivered on the ambitions of our founders. We rank in the top 30 universities globally, number one university in Australia and 95 percent of our research is rated above world standard.

ANU aspires to the highest standards of excellence. We aim to not only ensure Australia’s national prosperity, but also to spearhead Australia’s contributions on a global stage, leading with foresight and a commitment to making our world a better place. This is done through our research, contributions to public policy, and providing a world-class environment for our staff, and students as Australia’s future leaders.

While our responsibilities are to serve Australia, our horizons are global. The legacy of our long-standing international engagement and expertise has delivered unrivalled impact beyond our borders, particularly throughout Asia and the Pacific

We pride ourselves on the impact ANU has had, and nowhere is that greater than through our alumni. ANU graduates are making contributions worldwide, at every level and in every sector. We have also blazed the trail in philanthropy, setting the benchmark among Australian universities when we accepted the remarkable Tuckwell Gift in 2013 the largest donation made by individuals to an Australian university at that time.

While philanthropy is still young in Australia, ANU is continuing to build on its strong advancement program – you will have the unique opportunity to lead the Advancement team with your vision and expertise. Your support will ensure that we can continue to deliver on our mission and achieve something extraordinary together.

The Vice President (Advancement) is a representative of ANU externally, and must establish and sustain strong relationships with the University colleges and service division, particularly the College Deans and leaders of integrated functions such as marketing and communications, and with external individuals, communities, institutions and organisations that are critical for the support of ANU innovations and activities.

Candidates should have the leadership experience, professional confidence and significant achievements to consider themselves among the world’s leading advancement professionals.
