The Department of English, Linguistics and Theatre Studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellow position. The position is for two years, ideally beginning in November 2022.

The research fellow will work with Dr. Aine Ito on her research project “Enhancing prediction to facilitate non-native language comprehension”.  The project will explore the extent to which language prediction is automatic, and whether enhancing prediction facilitates real-time comprehension in a non-native language.

Information about working in NUS and living in Singapore is available at http://www.nus.edu.sg/careers/whyjoinus.htm. The NUS Department of English, Linguistics and Theatre Studies website can be found at https://fass.nus.edu.sg/elts/.

The deadline for applications is 24 August 2022. Applicants should send to the application email below with the following documents:

  • A cover letter with a description of relevant research experience and interests related to the project
  • A CV
  • Two examples of previous work
  • The completed Personal Data Consent Form for job applicants available from

http://www.nus.edu.sg/careers/files/NUS-Personal-Data-Consent-for-Job-Applicants.pdf

There is no need for references letters at this stage of the application, although candidates should list two referees (names, affiliations, and contact information) in their cover letter.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Please contact Aine Ito (see contact information below) with any questions.

For further enquiries, please email: aine.ito@nus.edu.sg

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will bring familiarity with these topics and/or have published on related topics. Previous experience with eye-tracking (visual world paradigm) is highly desirable. There is no teaching obligation.
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Funds exist for travel to international conferences. The Research Fellow must have their PhD in hand by the start of the position.
