Job Description

The Project Manager is responsible for the coordination and management of the production of online and blended programmes. Working with a diverse team made up of developers, designers, and video producers, you will lead the team to ensure that the content produced is delivered to agreed schedules and resources and meets our quality standards.  

You will forge strong relationships with your project teams, stakeholders in faculties and with partners external to King's, which will include providing excellent reporting and maintaining effective communication throughout the duration of each project.  

You will take responsibility for the quality of the product, from the start of the development process to its completion and delivery to students. You will also take responsibility for ensuring that your project team is communicating effectively and has everything they need to perform at a high level.  


About King’s Online

King’s Online is part of the new School for Professional and Continuing Education, it was formed in 2015 and develops a range of fully online courses and programmes.    You’ll be joining us at an exciting time as we seek to redefine online education and realise King’s strategic ambition of being the leading provider of online and blended learning by 2029. 

The role is primarily based at King’s Strand Campus though you may be required to travel to other campuses on occasion.  As part of King’s trial of hybrid working, all team members can work remotely for part of the week if they wish. 


This post will be offered on an indefinite contract .  

This is a full-time  post - 100% full time equivalent


Key responsibilities

  • Manage the production of new online masters programmes, blended programmes and short courses/professional education 
  • Establish schedules, managing staff resources, and ensuring agreed project goals, timelines and quality targets are met 
  • Communicate across the cross-functional project team and externally with clients and collaborators in academic faculties and departments 
  • Resolve bottlenecks by maintaining and communicating a big-picture understanding of the inter-connecting components of a course 
  • Remove obstacles from the production team 
  • Implement and ensure that standards around format, naming and structure are met for all produced content 
  • Maintain up-to-date project documentation and ensure that sign-off is received where required  
  • Develop strong relationships with the academic team responsible for a programme, and act as their principal point of contact 


Analysis & Research: 


  • Report on the development of new courses, ensuring that your project team, the King’s Online leadership team and relevant areas of the university are kept informed 
  • Remain abreast of developments in e-learning & ed-tech, actively contributing to innovation and efficiency 
  • Keep up to date with developments in project management theories and approaches and actively contribute to ensuring efficiencies in development processes and client management

  • Work with the faculty to ensure that all courses meet our requirements and are compliant with regulations 
  • Work as a collaborative member of the team and contribute to a culture of high quality and continuous improvement 
  • Actively participate in innovation 
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team to ensure resource allocations are followed and new course development initiatives are implemented.

Skills, knowledge, and experience 

Essential criteria


1.       Degree or equivalent experience   

2.       Experienced in project management practices and tools 

3.       Experience co-ordinating tasks across teams 

4.       Knowledge of managing production processes 

5.       Excellent relationship management and communication skills  

6.       Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time 

7.       Ability to manage conflict, solve problems and create a positive working environment  

8.       Skilled user of project management software e.g. MS Project, Trello 

9.       Ability to use initiative and innovative thinking to adhere to timelines 

10.   Attention to detail and commitment to quality 

11.   Excellent report-writing skills 

12.   Excellent English-language skills  


Desirable criteria


1.       Knowledge of Agile project management methodologies  

2.       Experienced user of Microsoft Office, Google Products and communications tools (e.g. Slack)
