Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow (several posts) in the Sau Po Centre on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 512573), to commence as soon as possible for one year or two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Social Sciences, Health Science, Gerontechnology, Ergonomics, Biomechanics, Medical devices, Robotics or a related discipline. Experience of technology development and evaluation of technological devices would be a plus. They should demonstrate strong competency in quantitative data analysis and have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Those with post-doctoral research experience, especially a strong background in gerontology, medical devices and robotics research and an excellent track record of publications are preferred.
The appointees will work in a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, medical specialists, social scientists and technology professionals to conduct a study of providing an intelligent robotic solution for assisting older adults’ mobility and manipulability to enhance independence and improve the quality of life of older adults. They will assist the Principal Investigator to plan, coordinate, and implement data collection activities; data analysis; prepare presentations, manuscripts and reports; supervise Research Assistants; and perform any other relevant tasks as assigned. There will be ample opportunities to work with research professionals as well as stakeholders in the local community. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
