Altered metabolism and immune evasion are recognised as enabling "hallmarks" of cancer. Our aim is to better understand nutritional and metabolic determinants of immune function in secondary breast cancer and thereby develop new therapeutic strategies targeting these pathways for translation to patients.

When appointed to this post you will support a large programme of research, led jointly by Professors Stephen Beers (Medicine) and Max Crispin (Biological Sciences), and funded by Against Breast Cancer. You will be responsible for supporting researchers and carrying out investigations using a range of in vitro and murine in vivo models. You will be based in the Centre for Cancer Immunology at Southampton General Hospital in a dynamic research group with a strong track record in basic and translational immunology.

You will be motivated, educated in a relevant subject area and have practical laboratory experience. Ideally, you will have research experience in standard biochemical, cell-biological or immunological techniques and hold a BSc. Prior experience with in vivo models and a current HO license are also highly desirable. The post is fixed term for three years in the first instance with the possibility of further funding.
