This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional with experience in Assessments and/or Professional Services roles, to join the   Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care (NMPC)King’s College London.

The work of our Assessments Team is essential to support the learning and teaching of over 3,000 students at King’s each year. As one of our Programmes Officers (Assessments), you will help us to provide world-leading educational support for our students. This is particularly important to us, due to Faculty’s top position in the QS World University Rankings both in UK and globally.

Our Assessments Team works closely with professional services staff and senior academic staff within the Faculty, and other Students & Education services across King’s. We work to ensure a professional, supportive, responsive and personable service incorporating front-line support as the first point of contact for our students and academic staff.

The successful candidate will work proactively to support a broad range of stakeholders. With a highly motived approach, the successful candidate will have the ability to work independently as well as delivering within a team. Most importantly, they will have a passionate commitment to working to ensure the best possible experience for all our students here at King’s.

Key responsibilities

  • Support student lifecycle processes from, utilising systems and databases- e.g. student records systems and virtual learning environments – accordingly, and in accordance with best practice, ensuring consistency of data and identify and
  • Support all assessment processes in line with university deadlines and regulations and Faculty and external requirements including but not restricted to processing mitigating circumstances forms, assisting with Faculty Assessments Boards, processing marks and awards, assisting with Turnitin queries and all related tasks as directed by the line manager (training will be provided
  • Take responsibility for resolving students’ and academics’ enquiries, including face-to-face and via email, responding within agreed timeframes and escalating complex enquiries
  • Liaising with a vast range of stake holders including senior academic and professional services colleagues on range of boards and assessment
  • Work flexibly as part of a team, supporting others in times of high-volume activity, providing cover and supporting the training and development of new staff members. This includes staffing the Nightingale Student Hub front desk on a
  • Take responsibility for own performance and development, through agreeing clear performance objectives, maintaining up-to-date knowledge and reflecting on own
  • Ensuring records are accurately maintained in accordance with the agreed retention
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a professional and timely manner, with appropriate confidentiality and sensitivity

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria

  1. Educated to  degree level
  2. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  3. Excellent organization and time management skills
  4. Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail
  5. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and the ability to work on new systems
  6. Methodical, detail oriented and flexible in a approach to work, maintaining a high level of accuracy
  7. Ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional and assured manner
  8. Proactive with the ability to work independently as well as delivering within a team in a flexible manner


Desirable criteria

  1. Experience of using virtual learning environments
  2. Experience in the use of databases, student records systems (such as SITS) and website content management systems
