The Asia Research Institute (ARI), National University of Singapore (NUS), invites applications for ONE Research Fellowship (Postdoctoral/Research Fellow).

The successful applicant is expected to commence duties at NUS in January 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Asia signifies both the Asian continent and islands and their relations with the wider world. Infrastructures are conceptualized in a similarly broad sense, including (but not limited to), for example, knowledge networks, health infrastructures, migration infrastructures, port and other transport infrastructures, digital and financial infrastructure networks and nodes as well as China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)

The position is funded by a new Research Partnership between ARI and Deutsches Institut für Japanstudien (“DIJ”) https://www.dijtokyo.org/ which is one the institutes of the Max Weber Foundation (“MWS”) https://www.maxweberstiftung.de/en/ueber-uns.html

The new ARI-DIJ Research Partnership capitalizes on the track record of the Max Weber Foundation (MWS) Research Group on Borders, Mobility and New Infrastructures that was established in the NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (“FASS”) in June 2017 and will be replaced by the new Partnership: https://fass.nus.edu.sg/max-weber-foundation-research-group-on-borders-mobility-and-new-infrastructures/

The successful applicant will be hosted by one or more of the following research clusters at ARI: Asian Urbanisms, Inter-Asia Engagements, Asian Migrations, Science Technology and Society. The appointed fellow will have opportunities to be involved in organizing workshops and webinars, applying for grant funding, participating in current cluster projects, and carrying out new projects.
