We are looking for a highly motivated programme manager for a 2-year fixed term position to coordinate the multidisciplinary Life Lines research and digital innovation programme. This programme of work is led by Professor Louise Rose, who is a Head of the Research Division Applied Technologies in Clinical Care at the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care (NMPC) at King’s College London and co-founder of Life Lines.

The post-holder will have responsibility for the operational management of the Life Lines programme, including co-ordinating and ensuring timely delivery of all work-packages, line-managing research and administrative staff employed on the programme, assisting in budgetary management, monitoring progress, and capturing impact, and preparing and submitting reports to funders and other stakeholders. They will also take a lead role in co-ordinating research and dissemination activities and maintaining excellent working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders

The post holder will work closely with the specialist research teams and provide the necessary infrastructure and expertise to support the delivery of research studies in the unit under the supervision of Professor Louise Rose.

Applicants should have a MSc degree or equivalent in a health-related field and experience in research conduct. Ability to maintain quantitative research databases or qualitative interviewing and analysis skills are required. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail are essential as are strong communication skills and ability to multi task at a fast pace are required.

This post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract until August 2023.

This is a full-time  post - 100% full time equivalent

Key responsibilities

  •  Produce management information data to meet the needs of a wide range of stakeholders, including utilising data to monitor completion and quality of work undertaken by the team and analysing and providing reports on data from many sources such as module evaluation processes   
  • Manage resources on a day-to-day basis to ensure consistent service delivery and being involved in resource planning when new initiatives are in development.    
  • Monitor and review service delivery on a continual basis to ensure compliance with agreed timeframes, expectations, key performance indicators and service level agreements, providing feedback to team members and setting clear expectations.  
  • Address contemporaneous and medium-term issues and flag longer term issues to relevant colleagues.    
  • Develop and improve the service through eliciting and responding to service user feedback, identifying and implementing new ways of working through close working with Professor Rose   
  • Working closely with Professor Rose to develop and implement service improvements    
  • To ensure all work is carried out in a professional and timely manner, with appropriate confidentiality and sensitivity. 
  • Assist with data collection, management and analysis (both quantitative and qualitative) 
  • Contribute to development of study materials, report writing, peer reviewed publications, and future grant applications 
  • Monitoring of the shared Life Lines mailbox to ensure all queries are answered in a timely manner  
  • Dissemination of Life Lines activities including social media 
  • Coordinate team meetings and activities.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria  

  1. Excellent organisational skills and time management, with the ability to prioritise effectively and delegate tasks appropriately and work to tight deadlines.  
  2. Excellent communication skills both oral and written, including ability to draft documents and correspondence, lead and contribute to meetings with a range of stakeholders 
  3. Strong numeracy skills and ability to extract, analyse and present complex numerical data to drive decision-making   
  4. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft packages, experience in use of databases, and confidence in learning new systems   
  5. Knowledge and experience of project management and the planning and coordination of multiple applied research studies running in parallel  
  6. Experience of establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and new networks  
  7. Have a methodical but flexible approach to work, being adaptable and responsive to a culture of continual improvement        
  8. Have a proactive approach, working independently and exercising professional judgement    
  9. Ability to work under pressure to complete a range of competing priorities, demonstrating resilience and maintaining accuracy and attention to detail   
  10. Confidence with digital technology. 
  11. MSc degree in relevant discipline. 
  12. Experience of working on a research team in a health setting. 
  13. Excellent working knowledge of research governance including Good Clinical Practice 

Desirable criteria

  1. Clinical experience in a critical care setting
