Applications are invited for a Specified purpose post of a Research Careers Manager within UCD Careers Network

This post is positioned to support Postdoctoral Researchers following a professional development programme funded by Teagasc, the state agency providing research, advisory and education in agriculture, horticulture, food and rural development in Ireland. The post will also impact on the UCD Strategic Landscape from the level of the University through granular thematic strategies.

The UCD Strategy: Rising to the Future (2020-2024) articulates the objective to "attract, retain and develop an excellent and diverse cohort of students, faculty and staff" and the UCD Strategy for Research, Innovation and Impact (2015-2020) states that: "We will support the development of outstanding faculty and researchers across disciplines and at all career stages."

In addition; the UCD Strategy on Career Development and Employability (2015-2025), Priority 1, action 1.6 states that UCD should: "Introduce a career development process for PhD students and continue to enhance the Research Careers Framework for Postdoctoral Fellows to ensure the provision of career development support and the provision of transferable skills modules." As such the post holder will make significant contributions to strategic, policy and operational development through work undertaken with and work undertaken on behalf of Postdoctoral Researchers in particular.

The person appointed will actively participate in University, national and international working groups, produce high level reports and deliver expert level presentations and draft policy and position statements for senior managers. Demonstrating impact and addressing continuous quality improvement and enhancement of the Research Careers Framework is required. In this regard, the person appointed will be an excellent communicator, an influencer and agent for change. Engagement with members of the University Management Team such as the VP Research, Innovation and Impact is necessary in maintaining the national and international standing and reputation of UCD Research Careers Framework.

Through global engagement and partnership with international peers, the postholder will enhance UCD's reputation, establishing UCD further as a university of choice for postdoctoral researchers, which is a key enabler in UCD `s search for postdoctoral talent on the world stage. The appointed individual will be an effective networker, developing opportunities, relationships and partnerships that continuously improve communications, educate on the jobs market and enable the progression of Postdoctoral Researchers onto the next stage of their career journey.

95 Admin Off 1a\2013 (2010) Salary scale: €61,622 - €72,009 per annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
