Job Description

The Cancer and Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) Programme studies the causes and treatments of cancer and related diseases. The CSCB research groups have diverse programmes in both basic cancer biology and clinical-translational studies, with a special emphasis on cancers that affect the Asian community in general. 

We are recruiting a Research Assistant for Dr. Koji Itahana’s laboratory which focuses on studying tumor suppressor p53, the most mutated gene in cancer, to understand the mechanisms of cancer development and cancer metabolism to reveal novel therapeutic strategies.  For more information, please visit https://www.duke-nus.edu.sg/cscb/the-team/primary-faculty/details/Detail/koji-itahana

The selected candidate will perform a variety of functions related to research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate: - 

  • Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project, including mouse-related work.
  • Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting, and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings. 
  • Assist researchers in programming, data analysis, and literature review in various research projects. 
  • Contribute to project management, presentations, and publications of research work. 
  • Assist with the general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures for ongoing research projects. 
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein. 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Sciences / Life Sciences with at least 1 year of mouse work experience such as providing care and maintaining mouse colony, conducting genotyping, necropsy, and drug delivery through oral gavage or subcutaneous/intraperitoneal/tail vein injections, handling subcutaneous/orthotopic xenograft model, and using bioluminescence imaging for implanted tumors, etc.
  • Entry-level candidates may also be considered. 
  • Knowledge of the scientific background relevant to the research area. 
  • Possess good organisation skills and strong interpersonal communications skills with excellent written, oral communication, and computer skills. 
  • A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
