About the opportunity

Reporting to the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, this role will be primarily responsible for working with the Senior Executive, Deans and Heads of School to oversee enterprise-wide initiatives that support and enhance the academic business of the University. In collaboration with the Provost, the Vice-Provost will work with the Education and Research Portfolios to support Deans and Heads of School to implement programs, systems and tools to enhance teaching, research and service excellence across the University.

The Vice-Provost will also support the Office of the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor in key areas such as academic appointment and promotion committees, academic planning and development processes, gifts administration, managing teams, attending meetings, events and committees on behalf of the Provost and deputising for the Provost as required.

About you

  • Exceptional senior management skills including high level interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and communication skills.
  • Flexibility, capacity to adapt to changing circumstances/environments and, when necessary, navigating through ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated capacity to think strategically, as well as deliver operationally, manage risk and evaluate outcomes.
  • An outstanding international record of scholarly research and education within the higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity for leadership of academic performance including previous experience in leading research and education initiatives that have led to quality improvement in a complex higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated excellence in academic management and leadership, evidenced by significant achievements when leading large teams.
  • Comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of effective academic practice in higher education.
  • Demonstrated capacity to keep abreast of emerging trends, utilising research and education analytics to track academic performance.
  • Demonstrated skill in leading cultural change in a large, complex and diverse organisation.
  • Demonstrated capacity for collaboration and effective contribution as a senior team member.

Term and remuneration

The term of the appointment is five years. This position will be supported by an underlying continuing position within a relevant faculty. A competitive salary and a start-up package will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance will also be provided if required

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
