About the role and the Discipline

As the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, you will contribute to the teaching, scholarship, research, and industry engagement efforts of the School in the field of Medical Radiation, more specifically (Medical Imaging, Radiation Therapy or Nuclear Medicine as relevant to your expertise).

This role will see you:

  • Contributing to the leadership of the program and its delivery of taught programs
  • Being actively involved with the industry partners and nurturing new and already established links within your relevant stream and within the wider medical radiations community of practice.
  • Working collaboratively with fellow academics within the teaching team, and updating colleagues and students on developments in your subject area or specialization
  • You may also be responsible for course coordination.

The discipline of Medical Radiations contributes to teaching and research in the fields of Medical Imaging, Radiation Therapy and Nuclear Medicine. The undergraduate program enables graduates to be eligible for registration to practice as Medical Imaging Technologists, Radiation Therapists or Nuclear Medicine Technologists in Australia under AHPRA. The discipline promotes strong, interdisciplinary collaboration within Applied Health and contributes to the mission and vision of the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences, the STEMM College and RMIT University. It also promotes strong links with industry partners and regularly engages with these and other stakeholders.

To be successful for this role, you will have:

  • Ability to prepare and deliver programs at undergraduate level, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or program materials
  • Ability to undertake course coordination role
  • Demonstrated capacity in working effectively with and negotiating sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning and ability to supervise higher degree by research students
  • Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links
  • Strong commitment to fostering industry links and networks and ability to generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government
  • Strong interpersonal skills appropriate for interacting with students, staff and industry partners and focus on multidisciplinary collaboration

To be successful for level C appointment, in addition to the above you will also have:

  • Ability to coordinate large courses and implement innovative approaches to provide best of class student experience
  • Ability to manage a large program or several small programs involving substantial blended and online learning
  • Experience in research/scholarship/industry leadership with the ability to build collaborative teams, mentor academic staff to deliver high quality outcomes, attract external research funding/relevant industry links to sustain academic effort and the ability to manage funded projects
  • Ability to manage an academic program team and supporting scholarly development of less experienced staff
  • Understanding of and commitment to financial, governance and quality management systems within a university

Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • PhD in a related field or approved AQF equivalency with relevant industry experience (a minimum of seven years of full-time practice or equivalent for appointment at level B and a minimum of ten years of full-time practice or equivalent for appointment at level C)
  • Registration or eligibility to register with AHPRA
  • Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children Check
