About the team

The PERTH (Plastic Exposure Reduction Transforms Health) Trial team is situated within the UWA Medical School, based at the QEII Medical Centre campus. The study involves a 1 to 2 year interventional clinical trial to investigate the health effects of plastic-associated chemicals (PAC) found in personal care products and diet. The study is supported by an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, medical scientists, dietitians, and statisticians.

About the opportunity

We are seeking two Graduate Research Assistants to work full time on Stage 2 of the research study. You will participate in the recruitment of participants, conducting dietary assessments using a new computer-assisted, multi-pass method of interview and evaluation to assess sources of PAC exposure. In addition, you will assist in planning, overseeing, and coordinating the procurement and supply of food and other supplies for the intervention study, whilst providing educational support to participants during the intervention.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualification in dietetics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of dietary patterns and accurate dietary assessment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed organisational skills.
  • Ability to show appropriate levels of initiative, and work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team

About you

You will be a great communicator, able to coordinate activity across a busy clinical study. You will be a motivated individual, who is passionate about improving health outcomes and environmental health. We encourage new dietetics graduates as well as experienced dietitians to apply for these research roles and join the study team. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
