Position overview

ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. Schools within the ANU College of Medicine work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.

This exciting new position at the ANU Centre for Mental Health Research combines roles with the ALIVE National Centre for Mental Health Research Translation and ACACIA: The ACT Consumer and Carer Mental Health Research Unit. The ALIVE National Centre is an entity administered by the University of Melbourne across 15 university partners including ANU, non-government and government agencies and researchers across disciplines. The ALIVE vision is to transform mental health and well-being through primary care and community action. The research objectives are to: embed novel preventive life course models; implement models of care that lead to longer, healthier lives in priority populations; and be informed by lived experience models and leadership. ACACIA undertakes research in partnership with and for the benefit of mental health consumers and carers in the ACT, and leads research capacity-building within the ACT mental health sector.

The Research Fellow/Fellow will have excellent academic skills, a strong interest in undertaking research of relevance to people with lived experience of mental health issues and a willingness to facilitate their participation as equal partners in the research process. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in mental health research design and implementation, the capacity to undertake both quantitative and qualitative research and strong organisational and project management skills. Experience in supervising research trainees and developing training courses would be highly regarded.

If you have a PhD in Mental Health, Psychology or a related field, lived experience as a mental health consumer or carer and an interest in the field of mental health we would welcome an application from you.
