The Public Health Research Center (PHRC) at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a Research Scientist in Population Genomics for the UAE Healthy Future Study: a large cohort study aimed at recruiting 20,000 Emirati National adults to study health outcomes related to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity. The successful candidate will have a solid track record in human population and statistical genetics and genomics and will be working with large genetic and genomic datasets with phenotypes related to complex traits. The successful candidate will work in a highly-multidisciplinary research environment consisting of several epidemiologists, researchers and bioinformaticians and will benefit from the support of established Core Bioinformatics and Sequencing Platforms and High-Performance Computing facilities. Position duties also include leading generation and analysis of genomic data for various PHRC projects, designing and implementing population and statistical genetic analyses, training junior researchers and students and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD degree in human genetics, biostatistics or in a related quantitative/computational discipline
  • At least four years of postdoctoral research experience
  • Prior research publications on human population genetics and/or genetics of complex traits

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and experience of cardiometabolic disease/traits
  • Advanced skills in quantitative genetics and statistics
  • Prior experience in mentoring/training students and junior scientists
