ScaDS.AI (Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence) Dresden/Leipzig is a center for Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data with locations in Dresden and Leipzig. It is one of five new AI centers in Germany funded under the federal government’s AI strategy and is established as a permanent research facility with currently more than 60 PIs. To promote research excellence in the field of AI and data science, ScaDS.AI supports early career research group leaders in this field that complement and extend our current research areas.

At TU Dresden, Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences, the Department ScaDS.AI offers a thematic call to explore AI-based learning:

Junior Research Group "Situating AI-based Mentoring" (m/f/x)

(subject to personal qualification PIs are remunerated  according up to salary group E 15 TV-L, subject to personal qualification Research Associates are remunerated1 according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

The applicants should demonstrate research work on interactive and/or AI-based systems in situated teaching and learning processes (in formalized education or another area of knowledge cooperation). These can include, for example, working with learning progress data and their individualized ad hoc interpretation in real time, in the context of impact-based pedagogical interventions via different (mobile, physiological, graphic, physical, etc.) interfaces. Applications can be found, for example, in the form of AI-supported learner evaluation, as a comparison between learning and knowledge levels, when using process-accompanying data on learning activity. Other fields of work concern trustworthy infrastructure when working with learner data, in the sense of an open learning record store. The question of possible "new" data types relating to the generation of data through data and their use at meta and micro level is also being researched. The overarching focus can be the disadvantage-free AI-supported design of the teaching and mentoring processes and their evaluation on the basis of process data, related to both human and machine learners, and follows up on current ethical debates.

Further information on the focal points in the competence center can be found at
