Key Responsibilities

  • Developing electronic hardware and software interface for performing low level (≤fA) current measurement and data acquisition (DAQ). This includes the design and evaluation of op-amp analog circuits, drafting and updating PCB designs and electronic schematics (in EAGLE or its equivalent).

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor/Masters/PhD degree in a relevant major, such as Physics/Electrical and Computer Engineering/Mechanical Engineering.

Other Relevant Characteristics

Candidates with any of the following characteristics will also be highly desired:

  • A multidisciplinary background with excellent practical experimental and engineering skills.
  • Experience or working knowledge in any of the following aspects: FPGA based control, Direct Digital Synthesizer, high voltage (kV) electronics, and low-noise instrumentation.
  • Experience in software development for graphical user interface to perform instrumentation control (LabVIEW, C/C++).
  • Experience with Electron beam or Ion beam microscopy, and/or Electron Beam or Ion Beam Induced Charge or Current measurement techniques (EBIC, EBAC or IBIC).
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art simulation platforms such as TCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM and PLECS for semiconductor device characterisation.
  • Familiarity with charged particle optics, and ray tracing simulation (e.g. SIMION, COMSOL, Particle Tracer).
  • CAD mechanical design and assembly (e.g. SOLIDWORKS).

General skills

  • Able to thrive in a dynamic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary research team.
  • Able to work independently by conducting experiments alone or in teams when required.
  • Able to develop requirement specifications and maintain technical documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written technical communication skills in English for multidisciplinary collaboration in a hybrid physical/virtual work environment (i.e. face to face and via collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams).
