The Faculty of Medicine is seeking a well-qualified and highly motivated quantitative researcher to join a team of researchers in Primary Care. The postholder’s focus will be to assist with an individual patient data meta-analysis of studies where microbiological data was been collected from patients with respiratory tract infections presenting in primary care. The postholder will identify eligible studies and assist with data harmonisation and data analysis.

You will have a detailed understanding and knowledge of statistical modelling and of packages for carrying out statistical modelling, e.g. Stata, SAS. Meticulous attention to detail will be required in preparing analysis plans and reports, and experience of writing papers for publications is required. You will be able to organise your own activities to deadline and quality standards to ensure the efficient and timely completion of the study.  

We invite applications from candidates who have a PhD or equivalent qualifications and experience in a quantitative field, such as Statistics, Medical Statistics, Health Services Research or Psychology. The title of Research Fellow is applied on completion of PhD, prior to this qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant is given. 

The appointment will be for 60% FTE until 28 February 2024. The salary offered within the range will depend on experience. The positions are based at Aldermoor Health Centre, Southampton, in the Primary Care Research Centre and remote working will also be considered.
