Job description

The Institute of Electronics, Communications and Information Technology within the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EEECS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Fellow.

The post holder will contribute to the highly prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant BEATRICE, led by Professor Michalis Matthaiou. They will develop new array architectures for beyond massive MIMO systems with extremely high directivity by injecting electromagnetic understanding into classical communication theoretic models.

The candidate will join a vibrant research group of 55 people, including 13 academics. The candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to the research activities of the new Queen’s Global Research Institute on Electronics, Communications and Information Technology (ECIT-2).

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:

  • At least 2:1 honours degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline
  • Have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline
  • At least 3 years research experience in communication theory and electromagnetic theory for future wireless networks.

This is a fixed term position for 2 years.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
