The Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme at the University of East London is characterised by understanding psychological problems in a social and cultural context and facilitating the ability to critically reflect on our activities as professionals. The programme was established in1975 and partners with the other North Thames Courses for clinical placements.

The appointed person will provide compassionate leadership to the programme in collaboration with the Programme Director (Clinical) and the Programme and Deputy Programme Directors (Academic), be responsible for contributing to developing its strategic vision and setting its direction, as well as deputising as the lead within the clinical tutor team. The successful applicant will help oversee the components of the programme that focus on the development and assessment of clinical skills and lead on selection alongside our Academic colleagues to ensure fairness and equity of process. Where necessary the successful applicant will deputise in the close liaison with the commissioners of training, senior clinicians and service leads across the north Thames region and our partner Courses, working across the TriCourse (UCL, UEL, RHUL) around north Thames placement provision.

The appointed person will have a qualification and substantial experience in Clinical Psychology and be registered with the HCPC to practice as a Clinical Psychologist. Previous senior management experience in the NHS and/or contribution to Clinical Psychology training programmes is essential to the role and will aid applicant to be able to assist in the current course expansion.
