We wish to appoint a Research Fellow to support applied health research studies related to ageing and dementia. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the research activities including participant identification and recruitment; data collection, entry and analysis; preparation and drafting of reports, papers and communications. You will join a multidisciplinary team of enthusiastic clinicians and researchers across the Faculty of Medicine, the School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton and a wider network of collaborating organisations in Wessex. You will be based in the Ageing and Dementia theme within the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) Wessex and the postholder will work closely and collaboratively with the NIHR ARC Wessex and partner organisations.
The NIHR ARC Wessex conducts applied health research with the aims to improve outcomes for patients and public; improve quality, delivery and efficiency of health and care services; increase the sustainability of health and care systems locally and nationally, through collaborative partnership. It has four thematic programmes of work:
- Ageing and Dementia
- Healthy Communities
- Long Term Conditions
- Workforce & Health Systems
You will have a PhD or equivalent professional research-relevant qualifications in area(s) relevant to applied ageing and dementia health research with good knowledge of UK care systems and processes for people with complex health needs. You will also have a good understanding and experience of qualitative research methods, including analysis of qualitative data. Excellent organisational and communication skills are also essential to this role, as is the ability to work as part of a team. This post is full-time funded by NIHR ARC Wessex, for a fixed term period until September 2024. Salary will be between £31,406 and £38,587 will be determined by qualifications and previous experience.

The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
