We promote public sociology, are often involved in public facing work and are active in a wide range of national and international associations and networks. We have had considerable success in winning prestigious research funding.

We are seeking a part-time (0.6FTE) Research Promotion Officer to assist the department in implementing a range of initiatives to enhance our research capacity, activity, and profile. The RPO is responsible for ensuring that research activity of the Department of Sociology is effectively supported and promoted. The RPO will work professionally and efficiently, in accordance with Maynooth University policies, systems and guidelines, and the culture of the Department of Sociology. The successful candidate will work with and through the Head of Department and, on a day-to-day basis, will liaise with and be supported by the Chair of the Department Research Promotions Committee. The RPO will report twice yearly to that committee and attend department staff meetings acting as an information conduit for research relevant activities and opportunities. The RPO will provide project management support for staff developing research funding applications, support and assistance regarding the dissemination of research outcomes, and support with events, conferences, symposiums and marketing research related activities.

Administrative Officer II (2022) Salary Scale: €39,628 - €52,548 p.a. pro rata (7 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
