The Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications from individuals to be appointed as a Post-Doctoral Associate. The position is for a postdoctoral associate on a project that explores cell type evolution in cereals in the context of stresses that are relevant to climate change. The project will be based at NYU Abu Dhabi and will be supervised by Dr. Kenneth Birnbaum.
The anticipated appointment is expected to start, preferably, on June 01, 2022 for a period of two years, with a possibility of extension. The successful applicant will perform novel analysis on single-cell RNA-seq data generating from maize, sorghum, and Setaria as they respond to biotoic and abiotic stress. The work will entail the adaptation of existing single-cell RNA-seq programs and the development of new approaches to compare cellular responses across the three species.
Applicants must have a Ph.D in biology or computational biology or a related field. Excellent communication skills in English are an important consideration, as the job entails a great deal of interaction, including Skype meetings, with collaborators in several different countries.
