Reaseheath College and University Centre is a specialist land-based institution situated in the heart of Cheshire. Working in partnership with the University of Chester, we are establishing our joint Institute of Sustainability and Food Innovation which will bring together the collective expertise and resources of both institutions to develop curriculum, research and knowledge exchange. As such, we are seeking an inspiring leader to develop and direct the new Institute.

As the Academic Director for the Institute of Sustainability and Food Innovation, you will be responsible for providing a coherent academic vision and direction to successfully deliver a portfolio of curriculum, research and knowledge exchange projects, working across teams at both Reaseheath and the University of Chester.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced academic leader to shape the work of the Institute in all aspects of food production, from field to fork, advancing sustainable practices and improving food security and quality. A key focus of the role is to ensure that the work of the Institute informs and drives the professional practice of our lecturers across the organisation, ensuring that our curriculum remains current, and research informed.

The Institute will focus on areas such as soil and water quality, sustainable agriculture, and regenerative farming, protected growing, anaerobic digestion, sustainable food packaging and food innovation. You will lead a team which is responsible for our glasshouse, vertical farm and food science laboratory, and work in close collaboration with academic staff and employers to shape and deliver opportunities aligned to our strategy.

Please note this role constitutes ‘regulated activity’ as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment. You must have the right to work in the UK and will be required to provide evidence to support this.
