Job description

We are currently looking for a University Tutor to join our School of Health and Social Care on a  Full-time basis. We are also happy to consider either part time or a seconded post.

An exciting, new opportunity has arisen within the School of Health and Social Care for a University Tutor to join Occupational Therapy team to contribute to the learning, teaching and assessment (LTA) of practice based learning and clinical skills in the occupational therapy programme.

The Role

The School is seeking a talented individual to join the team to provide support for the delivery of occupational therapy practice skills to our postgraduate pre-registration Occupational Therapy students. The post will involve liaising with our external key holders to allocate and support placements. It will also enhance placement learning activities and support for students and their educators. Together with related learning activities, student assessment and associated administrative activities it offers an innovative post in higher education working as part of the occupational therapy team.

We are seeking an individual who has the knowledge, skills, experience and ability to teach a variety of occupational therapy practice skills clinical skills commensurate with the role.  Applicants should be a current an HCPC registrant, have a degree in occupational therapy and have up to date clinical practice experience and recent engagement with students.  The university tutor will be based at our Sighthill Campus and will also be expected to do outreach work into a range of placement areas.

Who we are looking for

Essential requirements:

  • Degree in occupational therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Experience of supporting OT students in a practice learning setting
  • Recent practice experience as an OT

Desirable Requirements:

  • MSc in relevant discipline
  • Willingness to work  toward  a Post Graduate Certificate for Teaching in Higher Education or other relevant qualification in teaching.
  • Readiness to  work towards Higher Education Academy membership within 2 years of appointment
