About Research, Innovation and Commercialisation

Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC) is a specialist team dedicated to enabling the University's research and innovation mission working closely with our academic and professional colleagues, industry partners, funding and government agencies.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to step into a diverse, strategic role with truly tangible impact – Utilise your expertise and outstanding stakeholder management skills to enable the University to deliver cutting-edge research and impactful discoveries.

In this role, you will provide high quality support to research infrastructure development, and the strategic consideration of research infrastructure within grants, partnerships, major initiatives, and commercial opportunities. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across RIC, Chancellery (Research and Enterprise) and our Academic divisions.

You will lead and support strategically important, high value funding and commercial development opportunities for the enabling infrastructure that underpins delivery of the University’s high quality research outcomes. You will further contribute to the portfolio of activity by our team by contributing a deep knowledge of the research infrastructure landscape, both within and external to the University.

Responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and maintaining strategic and collaborative relationships with senior program managers and key stakeholders in relevant research communities, including research infrastructure and platform communities, to ensure efficient and effective service delivery
  • Working closely with Chancellery (Research and Enterprise) to deliver strategic outcomes in relation to the University’s research infrastructure, including providing support for University involvement in State and National research infrastructure programs
  • Supporting the development of commercial opportunities that include research infrastructure development, both internal to the University and involving external partners

About You

With a passion for research and delivery of major initiatives, you will have an extensive knowledge of research platform operations, and an understanding of the funding landscape, and policies and practices associated with the success and sustainability of collaborative research infrastructure facilities.

With a curious, solution-oriented approach and a high degree of initiative, you will solve problems and drive continuous improvement and innovation. As a confident communicator, you are able to navigate challenging conversations, influence strategic decision-making and generate buy-in from senior stakeholders.

With a commercial mind, your experience in developing and managing budgets and monitoring investment will be required.

You will also have:

  • Post-graduate qualifications in a technical discipline (e.g. engineering, science, biomedical or related), with subsequent relevant experience and/or equivalent mix of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in providing successful service-oriented administration of complex funding programs and development initiatives, particularly as they relate to acquisition and operations of research infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Expert planning and organisation skills, especially in the successful coordination of organisation-wide programs
