Role Description

The Centre for Defence Engineering is focused on the creation of world-leading academic knowledge within the multiple disciplines that make up defence engineering and technology.  It provides teaching, research and consultancy excellence with a focus on real world problems and the solutions to the same.

About the Role

You will aid the Head of Group in delivery of teaching and research as well as in group expansion / diversification via focus on sourcing of research council, consultancy projects (or similar) funding.

You will support teaching focused around control systems associated with differing classes of vehicle and other platforms.  This would involve preparation and delivery of both lecture materials and practical demonstrations for a student audience and experiments for student laboratory classes.

Some off-site work and / or out of country work is required for short periods in-line with the Centre’s business needs.

You will work with / support colleagues and collaborators with the aim of diversifying the group’s research directions and, ultimately, revenue streams and to undertake funded research to fulfill for both own and collaborative aims.

About You

You will have a PhD (or nearing completion) in either engineering or physical sciences.  You will have experience in lecture delivery as well as day-to-day supervision of student projects.  Practical experience in a laboratory setting undertaking scientific research and supporting practical demonstrations is essential.
