The expanding Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, is building capacity in ‘omics technologies linked to health and biomedical Informatics to deliver cutting-edge research across key themes underpinning the University of Surrey’s Research Strategy, including Innovation for Health and Digital Innovation. We will offer you excellent laboratory conditions with new equipment, involvement in a new measurements/bioanalytical centre and involvement with medical and veterinary research.

You will be part of a successful team, to work with integrity to lead an independent, externally funded research portfolio whilst contributing to teaching that will have high impact and high visibility in biomarker discovery, analytical biochemistry, veterinary medicine, health informatics and ‘omics. In addition, this new post will engage and collaborate with the multi-disciplinary vHive centre, which aspires to promote development and adoption of digital innovation in animal-human health under our ‘One Health One Medicine, one medicine’ vision.

Our new initiatives will offer you exciting opportunities to develop and further your career in novel and emerging areas by joining our multidisciplinary community which links researchers and local NHS trusts. You will also contribute to the development of veterinary research to support investigations that interface between humans and animals.

You will demonstrate experience of;

  • Bidding for research funding, developing innovative research proposals.
  • Identifying sources of funding submitting funding bids, and gaining positive reviews for these.  
  • We are also looking for evidence of high-quality publications in peer reviewed academic journals.
  • Experience in the handling and optimising performance of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry apparatus for proteomic/metabolomic analyses.
