Look to the future

As the Associate Professor/ Professor of Medical Education you will foster excellence in teaching and research. In this unique partnership between the University of Newcastle, the University of New England and the Hunter New England and Central Coast Local Health Districts you will provide leadership in curriculum development and innovation for the 5-year undergraduate Joint Medical Program (JMP) and expertise in educational research and scholarship.

In collaboration with the University’s Department of Rural Health and rural and regional partners, you will support the College’s pledge to innovation in rural and regional initiatives. This role will also have you supporting the commitment to Indigenous teaching and learning.

In this role you will:

  • Provide mentorship and supervision of academic staff and students
  • Develop and implement teaching and research initiatives
  • Enable a collaborative network of educators and develop purposeful collaborations within and across the JMP, inter-school and the LHD’s

This full-time continuing position is located at the Callaghan Campus in Newcastle on Awabakal land.

You will have:

  • A PhD in a medical education related area
  • Proven leadership skills in a similar role or be on the cusp of taking on a role of this magnitude
  • Exceptional community engagement, networking and interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully navigate the nuances that come with being part of a joint program such as this one
  • A proven record of distinguished teaching, program convening and course coordination
  • Maintained a record of national and international research output in high-quality sources
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and inspiring academic staff

How will we support you?

The remuneration for the Level D is from $152,252 to $167,731 plus 17% super and is commensurate with experience.

The base salary for the Level E is $196,124, plus 17% super. The University is committed to being a leader in family-friendly working environments.
