About the opportunity

The Northern Clinical School, within the Sydney Medical School Faculty of Medicine and Health, is currently seeking a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor of Paediatrics to undertake teaching and learning activity, research and other scholarly activity aligned with their clinical appointment.

As the Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor of Paediatrics you will be clinically active at both Royal North Shore and Hornsby Hospitals and will be expected to provide clinics in general paediatrics. You will contribute to teaching and learning at both sites and will participate in course design and evaluation as well as building your research contribution within the discipline.

About you

  • a higher research degree (completed or near completion) or equivalent postgraduate coursework or professional research qualifications appropriate to the specialty of paediatrics
  • FRACP qualification by examination recognized by the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • demonstrated clinical experience in patient management in paediatrics
  • acknowledgement at a national level as influential in expanding knowledge within the specialty and/or in pedagogical or curriculum innovation
  • demonstrated excellence in research, scholarly activities relevant to the speciality and educational design and practice
  • a deep and broad experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience teaching in a variety of settings
  • an established network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the specialty, School/Faculty and University
  • an understanding of and ability to support an academic endeavour from curriculum design to producing leading research and providing a student enabling environment
  • significant experience supervising others and coordinating team activities
  • a developing knowledge and understanding of the key issues in the higher education sector
  • a proven ability to work closely and harmoniously with colleagues and have highly developed interpersonal skills.

You will be appointed as a Level C or Level D academic, depending on your skills and experience.
