THE POST – Asset Manager  
The Department of Campus Services are seeking applications from individuals to join the University as an Asset Manager. You will join a dedicated team who strive to continuously improve the student experience across all campuses and will assist the Estates team regarding the design, modification and implementation of a variety of estates projects in support of the University’s refurbishment and development activities, ensuring consistency of approach, implementation of agreed space standards, branding and the procurement of all required furniture. 

The successful candidate will undertake the development, preparation, analysis and reporting functionality of proprietary and specialist hardware and software systems (CAD/CAFM) which support strategic asset management, space management and operational planning of the organisation and shall contribute to improving performance management across the department. You will also provide interior design, architectural drafting and space planning services on designated projects and the preparation of and obtaining of cost estimates for designated projects.  Through analysis and reporting, you will influence space management along with the optimisation and utilisation of physical assets while ensuring that baseline asset information is continuously updated and improved.

You will contribute to programmes designed to provide a safe, effective, attractive and sustainable environment for the delivery of University business to all campus users and visitors whilst maintaining compliance with its regulatory and statutory obligations. 

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Relevant degree, experience or equivalent in related subject e.g. Interior/Architectural Design, Space Management, Facilities’ Management (FM) – (a professional qualification or full membership of FM related discipline or organisation is desirable)
  • Significant knowledge and experience of the operation, application and management of Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software packages. e.g. CAFM (Archibus), CAD (AutoCAD/Revit) or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and experience of working at within an FM property context, preferably within a public sector, FE/HE Education or similarly large organisation.
  • Good interpersonal oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence senior colleagues on campus Estates’ operational and space related matters.
  • Capacity to understand the principal issues affecting the duties of this post with the ability to apply specialist knowledge and understanding to influence the development and implementation of long-term strategic plans.
  • Fully developed information and communications technology skills with analytical and problem-solving acumen.
  • Expertise through theoretical and practical application of existing Facilities Management software suites and an understanding of how they each impact on the role.
  • Knowledge of existing and planned regulatory and legislative requirements as they apply to University personnel and properties.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety and Sustainability issues and how these impact in the workplace.
