Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 515461), to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or related disciplines, with post-doctoral research experience. They should have strong expertise in non-communicable diseases research, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. An excellent record of publications and/or grants, and research experience in genomics/metabolomics would be advantages.

The appointee will conduct epidemiological research with a focus on omics and genetic data of non-communicable diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. He/She will develop research programmes independently; write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; supervise junior research staff and students; and assist in administrative, operational and other duties as assigned. There will be opportunities for participating in the teaching of epidemiology courses. Information about the School can be obtained at http://sph.hku.hk. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
