The Department of Sociology has recently also performed exceptionally well in league tables for UK universities, achieving 14^th for Sociology in the Complete University Guide (2023), whilst it was placed 16^th in its Unit of Assessment for REF2021.

The Department is seeking applications for a full-time one-year, fixed term (maternity cover) Lecturer in Sociology in the Department of Sociology. You should hold a relevant doctoral degree or have submitted your thesis. You will be developing high-quality publications. You should have experience of teaching sociology in higher education and the ability to make a substantial contribution to the successful delivery of modules at undergraduate level. We are particularly looking for a colleague who can teach race and ethnicity and qualitative methods.
