The Department of Sociology has recently also performed exceptionally well in league tables for UK universities, achieving 14th for Sociology in the Complete University Guide (2023), whilst it was placed 16th in its Unit of Assessment for REF2021.

The Department is seeking applications for a full-time one-year, fixed term (maternity cover) Lecturer in Sociology in the Department of Sociology. You should hold a relevant doctoral degree or have submitted your thesis. You will be developing high-quality publications. You should have experience of teaching sociology in higher education and the ability to make a substantial contribution to the successful delivery of modules at undergraduate level. We are particularly looking for a colleague who can teach race and ethnicity and qualitative methods.
