Laboratory Technologist, Materials Science and Engineering

Job Description

• To provide support, maintenance, and training on laboratory equipment such as, but not limited to, scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscope, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analyzer, Zetasizer, freeze dryer, and Raman spectrometer
• To provide support for laboratory-based teaching modules, that includes material procurement, material preparation, laboratory equipment setup and troubleshooting
• To maintain ample chemical/ material supply for the teaching laboratory, e.g. purchasing of liquid nitrogen
• To conduct fundamental laboratory-based admin duties such as material procurement, equipment maintenance, waste collection
• To keep track of the departmental fixed asset, which includes asset number creation, tagging, asset disposal, and asset transfer
• To conduct examination script checking
• To provide IT related support
• To manage the facilities (booking and usage) in the laboratory
• To manage the organisation of the laboratory
• To be involved in the digital transformation of the laboratory 
• To provide analysis support for the laboratory equipment assigned and to provide supervisory role to the users
• To support ad-hoc duties when assigned

Qualifications

• Diploma holder (preferably in Engineering) with at least 3 years of experience working in laboratory or bachelor’s degree holder (preferably in Engineering) without experience are welcome to apply
• Prior experience in handling materials characterisation equipment is an advantage
• IT savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office
