Based at our Docklands and USS, Stratford Campus, the Department of Performing Arts is part of the School of Arts and Creative Industries.

The School of Arts and Creative Industries brings together UEL’s innovative research and teaching in the subject areas of Performing Arts, Media and Fashion. We are regular contributors to REF as a Unit of Assessment recognised for our socially-engaged research and strength in impact with the majority of our research judged at international or international excellence with some world-leading outputs.

The School of Arts and Creative Industries has invested heavily in the Performing Arts and our performance facilities are industry standard and suitably equipped to provide a high quality, internationally excellent teaching and research environment. We offer a range of opportunities to our students through our partnerships with employers, professional bodies and cultural organisations.

We are looking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Acting in the Department of Music and Performance in the School of Arts and Creative Industries. This post includes module leadership, assessment design, module development, curriculum design and student admissions recruitment. The role is for an inspirational teacher with a strong track record in professional practice in screen and stage who has experience of teaching acting / directing for stage and screen in studio-based settings within Higher Education. Practical techniques include ensemble building, approaching text, acting for camera, Meisner/Chekhov (or equivalent methodology), vocal development and preferably professional directing experience.

Applicants will be committed collaborators with experience of working with colleagues and students to achieve high quality outcomes underpinned by an inclusive practice actively and demonstrably committed to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and anti-racist pedagogy.

The role requires appropriate HE qualifications at undergraduate and postgraduate level or equivalent significant relevant professional experience.
